Project 7 Web Page

P7A2KimberlyAmparo
Description
: A webpage designed using html and css for a logo, including the description of the process for making the logo.

  1. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): First, I made the logo. I made it using Adobe Illustrator, I used the star shape and added many points for the sun, then I made the banner using a start with four side and the direct select tool to make it look like a banner, to which I added a complementary blue outline stroke and then text. The webpage was formatted using html and css linked together. The blue used came from using the color picker in Photoshop to get the code for the blue from a picture of the sky and then manipulating it. I then added a maroon border. I added my logo and centered it by coding the html. This was an enjoyable process.
  2. Message: My message is that I can design webpages and logos according to different needs and audiences.
  3. Audience: The audience for the logo is health conscious people that enjoy orange juice and the audience for my webpage is future employers.
  4. Top Thing Learned: The biggest thing I learned is how to work with html and css to create unique webpages.
  5. Color scheme and color hex(s): My color scheme is a split complementary using orange (), blue (#559fba), and Maroon (#620201)
  6. Title Font Families & Category: The title font is Verdana, which is a Sans-Serif.
  7. Copy Font Families & Category: The body copy is Times New Roman, which is a serif.
  8. Changes made to the CSS: The changes I made to the CSS were those of text and of color.
  9. Word Count: 211 (webpage), 286 (this post)

Project 6 Stationery

  1. Description: This is personalized stationery and business card
  2. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I began by seeking inspiration form many sources and the drafting something i would like to create. I did and received critiques, then I sought out more inspiration and redesigned incorporating my new inspiration and my critiques. The logo and retro pattern were created in Adobe Illustrator and the business card and stationery were put together on Adobe InDesign. The logo was made by grouping together the text and the different boxes around. The retro pattern was made by setting lines- the copy tool made it simple, then, making all the triangles individual and then simply coloring them in with different colors.
  3. Message: My message is that I’m fun yet professional.
  4. Audience: My audience is friends, acquaintances and future employers.
  5. Top Thing Learned: I learned to have fun and not be afraid to learn new things via web tutorials, like the one I used for the retro pattern.
  6. Color scheme and color names: My color scheme is an analogous with different greens and blues.
  7. Title Font Name & Category: I used the same font for both: Geometrica which is a sans serif.
  8. Copy Font Name & Category: I used the same font for both: Geometrica which is a sans serif.

Project 5 Logos

KimberlyAmparo-P5Logos (2)

  1. Description: Logo for Goldens Cosmetics
  2. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills): I used Adobe Illustrator to create this simple design. I used three lines with a grunge effect which is where the color splashes come from. Then I added text!
  3. Message: My message is simple that Goldens Cosmetics is a fun company that provides lots of colors!
  4. Audience: My audience is girls ages 16-31 who wear makeup. Especially makeup lovers who want high quality makeup with lots of color choices.
  5. Top Thing Learned: I learned the importance of having Vector designs so that it won’t get pixelated when used. Illustrator fixes this issue.
  6. Color Scheme and Color Names: My first color scheme is analogous, using purple, violet and red. The second is in a grayscale and the third is analogous using teal, blue and indigo.
  7. Title / Body Font Names & Categories: The title font is in Lobster , and it is a decorative. The body copy is open sans light which is a sans serif.

Shooting and editing these pictures was an adventure. Although still not professional, I learned a lot about the basics of taking photos and editing them in Photoshop. With Photoshop I mainly adjusted the vibrance, colors and sharpness. I’m looking forward to continue learning about Photoshop this week and in the future!

Project 2 Event AD

P2KimberlyAmparo-page-001

  1. Description: This AD is for a half marathon to raise funds for a charity that helps disadvantaged woman have better futures.
  2. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles): The program used to complete this project was Microsoft Word. A woman running comes from an AD in a magazine. I scanned the image and removed the background and added a background of my own using the triangle tool to add several triangles in different colors. The words were added using test boxes and the lines using the line tool. The Focus principles I focused on the most were repetition and contrast of color with the different colored contrasting triangles in the background.
  3. Message: The message I want to get across is that women can be strong too. This run will be empowering not only to the woman the fund will benefit but also to the men and woman participating in the half marathon.
  4. Audience: My audience are all the active/athletic people that live in the Maryland, Virginia and DC area. With DC being central to so much activity there are many young adults between the ages of 18-35. I considered them in creating this ad, I was aiming for something appealing, crisp and bold.
  5. Color scheme and color names: The color scheme I chose was Analogous, using different shades of teal, blue and indigo.
  6. Top Thing Learned: The top thing I learned in this project was how to use a scanned photograph to create something new. I can see that proving useful in the future. I also learned how to remove a background using Word and most importantly learned that you don’t need a fancy computer program to make a professional looking design.
  7. Title Font Name & Category: The font name for my title is called Blackout and the category is decorative.
  8. Copy Font Name & Category: The font name for my body copy is Oswald which is a sans serif.
  9. Scanned images used, sources, original sizes, location of scanner used: The image used was an AD for New Balance in Runner’s World magazine, it’s original size was 8 1/2 by 11 with a 300 ppi and the location I scanned it in was the David O’Mckay library on the BYU-I campus.

Project 1 Flier

Amparo-Kimberly-InDesign-Flier

  1. Description: This flier is so a Graduate Leadership Conference, designed using InDesign. Read below for more details:
  2. Process (Programs, Tools, Skills, FOCUS principles): For the process of creating this flier I began by thinking about my audience and sketching possible designs. I then narrowed it down to one and used InDesign to create this simple yet appealing design for the Graduate Leadership Conference. I used the Rectangle tool to create triangles to create repetition and flow throughout the design. The pull out rulers on InDesign were my best friends during this project. There was a lot to align to give it that crisp look so the rulers came in handy to get everything aligned just right. After everything there still appeared something missing- contrast. To create even just a bit of contrast I created a black box and turned the word “Conference” white. This helped the word “conference” stand out and the flier look complete.
  3. Message: The message I want to get across with with this flier is professional, and minimalist. I want viewers to be attracted to the most important information and also feel powered.
  4. Audience: The audience I focused on is focus young college graduates seeking career opportunities they’ve always dreamed of and who are ready to make them a reality.
  5. Top Thing Learned: This project was exciting, first and foremost, I learned how to use InDesign. When it comes to design, I learned the importance of the FOCUS principles (Format, Outline, Contrast, Unify and Simplify), as well as the importance of receiving critiques from various sources. The improvements I was able to make thanks to the critiques I received made all this design and how grateful I am.
  6. Title Font Name & Category: Bebas Neue; Sans Serif
  7. Copy Font Name & Category: Josefin Slab; Slab Serif
